Between 14 and 18 October 2019, municipal utilities will carry out pressure and volume measurements in the drinking water network as part of a pipeline network analysis. To this end, Stadtwerke and RBS wave GmbH include so-called pressure loggers at selected points in the water pipeline network. Thus, the pressure drops generated by controlled withdrawals (standpipes) can be measured in the network. These pressure and flow measurements take place both during the day and in the late evening and at night. They can produce small disturbances (poor pressure conditions and rust water formation in the net) with the water supply. The aim of the analysis is to obtain a detailed calculation of the actual hydraulic state, ie to know whether the pipeline network works as calculated and the pressure conditions still fit. You can read more about this on page 14 of our Customer magazine NetzWerk, issue 24.
In the northern Wolfgangsiedlung, next to all the gullies, badges from DWA-Bavaria are now stuck. They carry the inscription "No dirty water in this gully". The badge is to contribute to the fact that no more dirty water, for example, from the car wash, out of ignorance on the nearest street drain in a rainwater channel is disposed of and so can go directly into a body of water or in the groundwater.
In Switzerland, such badges have been around for some time. That is why ÖDP City Councilor Elke März-Granda asked as part of a city council application for the examination of whether such plaques are also practicable in Landshut. This resulted in a pilot project with the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection and the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) and Stadtwerke Landshut, which are responsible for wastewater disposal in the independent city.
The badges will be tested over a period of two years in practice. These include installation effort and durability. Finally, the badges are exposed to wind and weather as well as the brush cleaning by cleaning vehicles, the clearing blades of snow removal vehicles, etc.
About one third of the urban area Landshut is drained in the so-called "sewer system". This means that there are separate sewage and rainwater channels. Rainwater drains off in separate channels to relieve the rest of the drainage system - in the case of the northern Wolfsburg settlement, rainwater is channeled into infiltration systems. In separation channel areas, special care must be taken to ensure that only clean precipitation water reaches the rainwater channel.
However, generally no dirty water should be poured into gully. Also street sink boxes in mixed water channel areas are intended only for rainwater.
